How to "minimize" xbmc
#1
I am running full Ubuntu 10.03 with Gnome desktop etc. and xbmc 2:10.1RC1-lucid1 (aka Dharma).

After login I see the desktop and from there I start xbmc.

How can I switch back to the Gnome desktop without exiting from xbmc? In other words minimize xbmc to the taskbar (or whatever it is called in Gnome) so I can interact with the desktop again.

I know I can exit from xbmc back to Gnome, but that stops the music. Furthermore restarting xbmc takes some time because as soon as it starts, a message box appears with a message like "scanning file info.". As long as it is scanning, xbmc's response to commands is slow to non-existent so I always have to wait until it is finished before I can do anything.

So I want to flip back & forth between a running xbmc & the desktop.

Try hitting the "\" key. that should put XBMC in a window and you can do what you want.
