need help with XBMC RC1 and my sound setup
#1
Hi all my films are mkv | mpg and have either DTS or AC3.

My current setup consists of a Win 7 HTPC that connects to my TV via HDMI as I currently do not have a low profile optical out card for my amp Sad

So my question is, when I listen to music with the above setup it's good, however when i watch films (sound configured to analogue 2.0) i have to turn the sound right up and it doesnt sound quite right,

Now have I setup XBMC right? should i be doing something else?

thanks

Yu haven't actually told anyone what your current audio settings are.

I'm assuming you have enabled "Boost audio levels on downmix"

sorry

current audio settings are hdmi and standard 2.0 as my 40" sony bravia doesnt support DTS or AC3 and yes "Boost audio levels on downmix" is enabled but im not sure what this is doing....

I think I've seen a few threads on this subject, and it's to do with how 5.1 audio is downmixed to stereo though I'm afraid I don't recall the details or how to fix it. That might give you a few pointers for searching the forum.
