The Lucid distribution ships with the ancient libmms 0.4 and this breaks a lot of streaming WMV files. I have upgraded libmms to v0.6 on my XBMC live installation and recompiled XBMC with this library. Now a lot of channels that previously didn't work do work correctly.
There is no major drawback of using the newer version. There are no code changes required. Just include libmms 0.6 and use the header and library. Once we use Maverick, then this can be rolled back, because Maverick ships with v0.6 by default.
