[REQUEST] HDD (Hard Disk Drive) SMART background monitoring plugin or script?

Is there a way for a plugin to monitor the S.M.A.R.T. of all hard drives all the time and create a popup when the S.M.A.R.T. fails?

With this you'd be able to hopefully backup your data before a hard drive failure and data loss. Any thoughts?

I know I'm bumping an ancient post, but I couldn't find any other posts about this topic.

Just want to say that I wholeheartedly second this request...I think that a plugin to monitor S.M.A.R.T. data would be amazing!
