I just want to chime in and say how incredibly uninformative this thread is for anyone trying to research the problem... where is the alternate repo? Does a repo for Maverick exist?

Anyone stumbling upon this problem by using the search function can use this repo

It seems currently that the main Maverick repo does not have many of the packages.
