you can enable them by going to:
Settings > Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Home - Movies > Fanart
Settings > Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Home - TV Shows > Fanart
Settings > Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Home - Music > Fanart
