LIRC Serial Port
#1
I have a custom case purchase off ebay, that came with a homebrew IR sensor with a serial port cable. I've connected this to Com1 on the MB.

Now, I'm pretty much stuck in getting ubuntu to recognize the device.

I followed the wiki Here, but did miss the "for homebrew serial IR use --driver=serial)" and not the driver=irman, so will attempt to try everything again tonight and this weekend.

I also found this Ubuntu Serial Lirc install in the mythTV wiki Here while searching today.

Does anyone have any pointers on setting up your IR transmitter to a serial port?

And if it helps, I"m attaching this to the Com1 port on the ASUS AT3IONT-I motherboard.

Hi!
I used to use serial IR on archlinux and i followed this guide

I took a look through that guide as well, but am still at a loss.

I just hooked up an external usb IR receiver, and made a little progress. But I have an internal IR receiver connected to the serial port which is the preferred method to keep everything contained within the case.

I'm off to do some more searching (and diaper changes), but any other help would be great.

Thanks
