playback problem with Dharma RC2
#1
Hi,

i have an Zotac ION ITX-A that was faulty, after i got the replacement i installed Dharma RC2 from the live cd.
The memory for grapics is set to 512MB at the bios.
Now when i play a video everything is fine except for one thing:
with every video i tried i get judder periodical every few minutes. when i jump back and play that scene again the video plays fine.
I tried 1080i, 1080p, 720p from different sources and always the same problem.
When watching at the framerate i see that the framerate slows down and then speeds up to catch up the lost time.
The only thing i changed in the linux system is the xorg.conf, but thats exactly the same as the old where everythin was working.
There are also no erros in xbmc.log during the judder.

xbmc.log http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/545047/
xorg.conf http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/545048/

Please turn on debug logging in xbmc and post another log.
Also, you should remove the 24 hertz mode, otherwise you can't use the 23.976 mode.

at 15:10:04 i activated deinterlacing

the movie is a hdtv recording but i check every recording with a tool for errors and that movie is 100% without transmission errors.

and what about real 24 fps movies from europe when i deactivate 24fps?

If you turn on sync playback to display, and set the sync method to resample, those should play ok as well.

I activated sync playback to display but the problem was still the same.
Now i installed xbmc 10.0 and it is still the same.

Can you post a log of xbmc 10.0 with sync playback to display enabled.

today i had the time to test this.
audio is playing normal during every playback problem.
the video is slowing down or hangs for 1-2 seconds or sometimes much longer like 5 seconds and then speed up. after that i can see always droped frames when opening the "codecinfo" menu during playback.

I also found some more new errors with 10.0.
When deinterlacing is activated xbmc is playing ok with 1080i50. But with 1080p24 it tries to play at 48 fps and when playing 720p50 i tries to play at 100fps which results in a very messy playback. This was no problem with previos xbmc versions.
also in previous versions it was possible to open the audio menu during playback and switch between analog and hdmi output. So it was possible to switch between 2 channel downmix (analog) and passthrough (hdmi) without stopping the movie. With 10.0 i have to stop the movie, go to audio setup and change the speaker configuration 2.0 <-> 5.1. Is there a possibility to get a downmix function without always entering the setup?
