I have just installed Dharma final version
I was wondering which version of the CrystalHD driver is recommended
On the googlecode site the latest is 3.6.0 however the trunk has r174 and this can be installed with sartori script

Any clarification from the boss Davilla would be helpful

I used r174 and it seems to work fine.

I run the latest cutting edge code that is on the google-code site. But since I'm doing development work, that why. You should try both and run what works for you.

Wasn't r174 designed for BCM70015 chipset and R156 for the BCM700012? Does running R174 benefit users of the earlier cards?

No, R174 handles both, R156 can only handle the BCM70012.

Thanks Davilla, I did try R174 a little while ago (probably using Dharma pre RC1) and it made my atv unstable although this could have been other factors. Are there any performance increases in R174 for the BCM70012 card?

It is recommended to use r174 with XBMC 10 as it is currently an "official" CrystalHD release. It does work with XBMC 10 and plays SD and HD 720p and 1080p content. However because of CrystalHD hardware limitations it will only play movies encoded with H.264 up to 4.1 profile so there could be movies (like H.264@5.1 for example) that CrystalHD won't be able to play no matter what. So if you experience problems with a particular movie first make sure that it's encoded with the supported format before posting a problem here.

I haven't been following each revision per se, but the 3.8.0 tag seems quite stable to me.
