XBMC (10, although b2 aswell)- SMB Between XP and Vista
#1
Hi guys,
i've recently changed to XP version of xbmc, and today i noticed the official release is available. so i went on to install it.

Now although ive upgraded to xbmc 10, i had the same problem with B2.

My XBMC is installed on XP and its a complete fresh install of XP and XBMC10, when going into Add Source -> Browse -> SMB -> "Vista-PC" -> "E"

(vista pc is the computer with stored files & E is the drive)

when i click into "E" no folders/files show..

now on my vista pc, i goto network sharing centre, enable file sharing, enable media sharing, disable password protection sharing..

why wont it allow me to view the files in folder E?
it used to work 100% correctly with B2 Live, although the problems started when i went to B2 XP install and now XBMC 10 install on xp.

Any assistance would be fantastic as im pulling my hair out!

Whn you shared the folder on vista pc did you add a new user with those permissions. Add new user add everyone and make read only. That will do it

This is a little guide I made on the topic. If this doesn't help, I don't know what will.

Note: while the guide is for Win7 rather than Vista, MOST of the steps should be the same.
