Upgraded to Dharma, dropping a lot of frames
#31
Also having problems after upgrading from rc4 to final. After starting xbmc, I now see xbmc.bin in top running at 100% cpu... Never happened before. Haven't tried upgrading libvdpau yet though so will do that and will let you know.

So I added the nvidia ppa to my system and upgraded libvdpau1 but everything else seems to be latest. I rebuilt xbmc dharma from source and made sure to --enable-vdpau during ./configure but still, Xbmc is hogging 100% of cpu while idling on the menu. I'm wondering what changed from rc4 to final that could have had this effect..

I'd really like to see some feedback on this as well. I'm running XBMC on a Zotac ZBOX. I really doubt that others aren't experiencing these problems as well.

Using XBMC live 10.00 with the latest Nvidia drivers.
I've got the same stutter/framedrops on my Asus S1-AT5NM10 (Atom D525) and updated my Vpdau as posted here, but no succes.

Following the Xorg.conf for 24p guides here made it only worse.
Downgrading to XBMC 9.11 seems to solve the problem, but I really like to use the latest version.

Just tried with 9.11 live and there it works without any drops! Can't come to any other conlcusion now than that we have a problem here. I tried Dharma, XBMCfreak Dharma, file on USB harddisk, NAS and nothing helps. 9.11 proves these problems don't have to be here.

Haven't messed with vdpau yet. As we don't know what's wrong here I don't feel like randomly messing up this setup. All details are in logs posted earlier.

I can confirm that updating vdpau does NOT resolve these issues.

From this log it seems that vdpau fails to enable.
So without vdpau you will get horrible performance on hd movies if youre on ION/ATOM plattform.

First of all i would just download the live cd and test with that booted, if that works something is wrong with your config settings.

Since youre on linux do you run XBMC standalone or under a desktop like gnome/kde ?

Before you update driver backup your xorg.conf !

You could try to update to the latest nvidia drivers:
Code:
wget http://uk.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/260.19.29/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.29.run

Then kill xbmc:
Code:
sudo service xbmc-live stop

Then run downloaded nvidia driver:
Code:
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.29.run

Any luck ?

...

Hmm, I honestly don't believe this to be true. Bringing up the stats bar during
playback shows "dc:ff-h264_vdpau-vdpau" / "dc:ff-vc1_vdpau-vdpau".

Already got that version installed.

Hi!

I have the same issue with XBMC 10.0, the 1080p video plays only about 17-18fps in fullscreen (1920x1080), but in window mode (approx. size is 1200x800) runs total 24fps constantly.
When the video is paused, the refresh rate increases to ~27-28fps (fullscreen) and ~57fps in (window mode)

I have the newest nvidia and vdpau packages (Ubuntu 10.10, x-swat).
libvdpau1 0.4-5ubuntu1
nvidia-current 260.19.29-0ubuntu1~xup~ma

The PC is:
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+
ASUS M3N78-VM mb w/ integrated GeForce 8200
2GB RAM

The cpu_min_freq is set to 1800MHz, Compiz is not enabled.

The mplayer plays the same video perfect, and xbmc 9.11 was able too.

I'm experiencing a lot of the same issues being posted here on one of my nettops (zotac mag), running XBMC 10.0 on Ubuntu 9.10. I'm gonna try the suggested fixes but just wondering how does one properly downgrade to Camelot if need be?
