[confluence] suggestion: left edge of confluence skin while playing video

is there a way to push the left blade of the confluence skin a few inches to the left while playing a video (where it lists weather, videos, music, programs, setting...) when nothing is selected it goes translucent but the black background makes it hard to see that part of the picture.

sometimes i like to read the bottom ticker of rss feeds on the home screen while a video is playing but i cant see the left 1/4th of the screen.
