well those 3 pieces will cost you $194,97...

and the one you choose at first, they'll cost you $234,97...

The Corsair RAM I have currently selected will cost the same as the OCZ RAM you linked after instant $10 savings and $10 MIR.

Now I have to decide if the extra heat will be an issue in that case I picked!

Honestly,
i wouldn't go with the Corsair Ram you selected because,
it runs at 1600Mhz...

Better of using the OCZ Gold 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz ($39.99) http://fwd4.me/tkZ
runs at 1333Mhz natively...

What about this GIGABYTE AMD MicroATX MoBo??

Does anyone else have an input or opinion on these AMD CPUs vs Intel i3s (and the mobos)

Ugh. Well there is one advantage of the i3 and H55 mobo. That RAM was supported fine Sad

that MoBo will operate slower....
it has FSB: 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s) ....

better with my suggestion,,,
it has FSB: 2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s) ....

See CPU BenchMark1 --> http://fwd4.me/tk0
See CPU BenchMark2 --> http://fwd4.me/tk3

You'll notice, i3 leads in Gaming...
AMD leads in video processing and intensive CPU operations....

oh and, 1333Mhz vs 1600Mhz, your eyes will never see the difference!!
but then if you really want to,
go with a Case Latency 7 RAM....
like this one --> OCZ Platinum 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz CL7 ($48,99) http://fwd4.me/tki

having a better timing in RAM makes a difference!!
its actually faster then your Corsair because Corsair has a Latency of 9!!

1333Mhz CL7 is faster than 1600Mhz CL9!!

[CPU] AMD Athlon II X4 3.0GHz AM3 95W ($99.99) http://fwd4.me/tkV

[MOBO] GIGABYTE AM3 Micro ATX ($54.99) http://fwd4.me/tkU

[RAM] OCZ Platinum 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz CL7 ($48,99) http://fwd4.me/tki

Thanks for your input!! I know that CL7 is better than CL9 because of latency! I may look for Corsair RAM, they are my preferred brand. But I know OCZ makes decent RAM as well.

eskro, how does the Gigabyte AM3 compare to the original Gigabyte H55 (for the i3) that I had selected. I know that the original board was a very well-built board with good FSB, 16Gb RAM support, etc etc.

Just want to make sure I am not losing much functionality or mobo performance by switching to AMD and that AM3 board.

if you want to pin-point differences,,,

***INTEL board has a front-side bus of 2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s)
***AMD board has a front-side bus of 2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s)

***INTEL board supports up to 16GB Dual Channel Memory
***AMD board supports up to 8GB Dual Channel Memory (enough for me)

***INTEL board doesnt have Onboard Video (doesnt matter cuz your getting a GPU anyways)
***AMD board has Onboard Video

***INTEL board supports 8 audio Channels
***AMD board supports 8 audio Channels

***INTEL board has Max LAN Speed of 10/100/1000Mbps
***AMD board has Max LAN Speed of 10/100/1000Mbps

***INTEL board has 8 x USB 2.0 ports
***AMD board has 8 x USB 2.0 ports

***INTEL board has 6 x SATAII ports
***AMD board has 4 x SATAII ports (enough for me)

***INTEL board costs $79.99 + $7.56 Shipping
***AMD board costs $64.99 + $7.87 Shipping ($54.99 after mail-in rebate card)

If we are gonna talk about Micro ATX AMD, this is my favorite board on the planet right now (for any CPU):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813128458

I have used it, can recommend it, great mobo. Only real step down is 8GB max vs. 16GB, but if you can afford 8gb ram sticks just buy the Asrock! I really like this mobo.

Honestly the more I think about it, eskro is right. I have put a Quad in that exact case. It can be done easily, the PSU can take it. But you will need one more thing, a better than stock heatsink. One with a 120mm fan.

I have fit one of these in that case before:

Okay!! Thanks for the comparison and great advice... so the stock cooler with the AMD will not do? Sad If I am gonna spend another $40 on a cooler... then it defeats half of my motivation to buy the AMD. I wanted to go that route because it was cheaper and still had good performance! Blush

this GIGABYTE AM3 Micro ATX ($54.99) mobo http://fwd4.me/tkU
is perfect for you....
supports up to 8GB Dual Channel Memory... enough for me!

Reviews say that the CPU runs CooL too,,,,

bmcclure937 Wrote:Okay!! Thanks for the comparison and great advice... so the stock cooler with the AMD will not do?

It will do as in nothing will blow up. It will just be a little louder. When you stick quads in smaller cases like that the CPU fan has to work harder to keep it cool. A 120mm fan is quieter than a stock fan, so then it doesn't matter.

Seriously, you have some time before you need it. Wait for a great Newegg combo. Let that decide.

Yeah, that one is great too. Can't really go wrong with any gigabyte mobo.
