No .mkv audio
#1
I'm house sitting for few weeks and got my PC hooked up to their receiver . Everything works great, except for audio from .mkv files., but only in XBMC. Every file plays fine in other players like MPC-HC and VLC.

I went through the Windows audio Wiki page just to make sure everything is correct; I'm using WASAPI, and connecting my AMD 7970 to the receiver via HDMI. Exclusive Mode box is checked, all supported formats are working outside of XBMC, and the configurations are correct. I have all recevier capabilites correct in XBMCs' Setting - System - Audio. Mpeg, AVI files play audio correctly. I also get no .mkv audio when I play through my Realtek audio device through my headphones.

Here's my xbmc log: http://pastebin.com/sgdm5PCz

Any ideas would be great, his has been driving me bonkers.

Specs:
Win 7 x64
XBMC 12.2
7970GPU conencted to HDMI
Marantz SR6007 AV Receiver

My Specs are identical to yours except for the Marantz SR6007 AV Receiver.

Try a direct hook up with your HDMI to the panel. Let's see if the issue is with the Marantz SR6007 AV Receiver, if it is.. you'll have to ask audio support forums for the solution. As a side issue.. In widows you have under sound icon 'playback devices' set-up as AMD HDMI output checked marked and it's green?

That log file is no good, you need to provide a debug log file of you trying to play a problem file, see Log_file (wiki)

I did start a video, at line 392, and let it play for a few seconds.

Yepp, the Marantz is my default audio device in Windows, and its all set up properly, and shows that it supports all the formats my at-home receiver plays, and I double-checked the specs on the Marantz site, and it does indeed support everything. As I said, I also get the problem when I play audio through my headphones connected to my Realtek audio built into my mobo.

Ive also come to find that although VLC will play any audio i toss at it, MPC_HC - using the LAV filters - will play most of what XBMC will not, and it seems that AC3 audio is mostly what XBMC is not liking, even though it'll play if it's in an .avi file.

For the time being, I've set VLC as a default external player for .mkv files, so at least that all works.

Here is another log, at Level 2: http://pastebin.com/VuGJEMnZ

Logs are not debug logs... you need to turn on debug. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=42708

Glad you have a work around fr now, the nighties have some change in the audio you might want to explore that.
