You are sure the sample has the vanishing subs too right? Great ! Finally ! At least some people care about this Wink hopefully they will do something about it now at ffmpeg

Yep i have tested the file and it does the same vanishing act as other movies. I tried it both on windows and openelec same thing happens.
Did you download the sample and try it yet? I hope they don't complain about the sample file size at 50mb?

I think maybe we can finally kick this one in the butt and put an end to it once and for all. At least untill they break something again in a future build.Blush

Havent tested yet Sad no time, but dont get too much hope..
Someone says it plays fine with Lav spliiter and mediaportal...
Well deuh... It plays fine with tmt5 and mpc-hc too... We need it to be playable with ffmpeg!
Unless xbmc can use lavsplitter?

Yes but will xbmc want to add lav splitter to their code instead of ffmpeg. I strictly use openelec so unless they would switch to Lav then i still want the fix for ffmpeg.
Unless Lav ends up being better than ffmpeg for everything and ffmpeg is not needed?
Although i'm not sure how all this works so.

Nor do i..
Maybe we should make a new ticket with the problem on ffmpeg?
With the sample offcourse..

Any thoughts from others here to know if its possible to use lav filters instead of ffmpeg for xbmc?

I've just read that ticket and believe you may have misunderstood. Seems like LAV filters are also based on ffmeg and therefore since LAV filters work there is no problem with current builds of ffmeg.

Try to play your samples with fplay, which is ffmeg produced player to see if you still have the issues.

Download from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

If that is ok then issues are fixed in ffmeg mainline.

Ill try indeed, if so... Then the problem is with xbmc i guess..

Yep if fplay works then both xbmc & vlc are using ffmeg code too old to contain the fixes. Not entirely sure how it all fit's to together but I think xbmc only uses stable builds of ffmeg with xbmc going to the latest as it was in April I believe. It maybe issues are fixed in the ffmeg mainline code but not made it into a stable build, or if in a stable it's a newer version than xbmc is using.

And if that is thr problem... How do we get the attention of xbmc devs here? So we can fix this once and for all

ffmeg was bumped to version 0.10.2 in April, see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/810

Since then there's been 2 stable ffmeg releaes ver 0.10.4 & 0.11.1, see http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

Looking at changelogs I see nothing related to subs

http://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.git;a=...;h=n0.10.4

http://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.git;a=...;h=n0.11.1

If subs work with fplay, then you need to pin point when it was fixed.

From ffmeg git, search of PGS fixes

http://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.git&a=...mmit&s=pgs
