Is it possible to pause a movie without showing how far, and how much is left of the movie?
It can e.g be quite annoying if I for some reason need to pause and it shows there is like only like 5 min left of a movie, or like 13 min left of an 5x5min UFC fight.

Yes, just a simple feature that would turn the timebar on/off would be great.

I just hate the OSD popping up when I pause. I pause to see the screen and I end up having the screen blocked with the OSD. I'd just like the guide/info/menu type buttons to bring up the OSD but the pause should just freeze the screen.

this is all controlled by the skin. you can modify it to do, or do not, whatever you want.

This thread had exactly what I was looking for, but my main reason for wanting to remove it was different. In my case, it was due to the fact that the default location of the pause dialog window blocks the subtitles. So, if I'm watching something that is very subtitle-heavy and I pause to read what's on the screen, the pause dialog box blocks part of it (which kinda defeats the point).
However, after reading the above, I like the fact that this makes the progress bar go away as well, since that does affect some of the shows I watch.
FYI for anyone who tries this: I had to reboot XBMC for this change to actually take effect (XBMC Live 9.11). Also, I opted to rename the file from .xml to .old instead, in case I ever want to turn it back on for some reason.
