Ati HD4250 not suited for DXVA2?
#1
I've never been able to use DXVA2 on my XBMC pc, video always turns out blocky/full of errors when enabling DXVA2. I'm using an onboard Ati 4250 videocard on a Asrock 880GM motherboard with 2gb ram, with the latest Catalyst drivers.

Does anyone have an idea if it's possible to get XBMC working with DXVA2 enabled on this videocard? Or is it not supported? I tried checking with DXVAChecker and that program tells me the card is 100% compatible. Still, it does not work with XBMC.

Already found these threads but the second one does not seem to offer a solution, and i cannot find where to set these options in ffdshow. Also, does xbmc use ffdshow? If so, where is it installed?

You have no idea how much this link just helped me. I couldn't play 1080 video with my 512MB ATi Radeon HD 4350 graphics card and stumped onto this thread. I made those changes and it is playing it perfectly!

I was about ready to spend $80 on a different graphics card to try and fix it. Thank you so much for posting this link! SmileSmile

Can anyone tell me where i go to make these changes?

edit: ok, found out these are option within Media player Classic. But even when changing the settings like in the article, I still get the blocks/errors when using DXVA. Mind, I also get these when playing a file directly from Media Player Classic. Kinda at a loss here Sad

Did you try downloading the latest Direct X?

Yep, just checked. Says I do not need to install directx since I have the latest or newer version.

Perhaps de-install Direct X completely then try and install the newly downloaded one?

Tried that, also tried removing the drivers and updating to the newest Ati drivers. Still same problem Sad
