I should also point out that as well as not being able to have different viewtypes for different playlists, you can't have different sort orders. This is the main thing that annoys me as I'd like to be able to view my main library by movie title but then browse by actor/director and sort by year. As it is I have to sort by name for all views.
Setting up a smart playlist is actually really simple, you just need to put it in the 'playlists' folder in userdata, then - if required - add a shortcut to it on the homscreen.
