xbmc 10.0 Life install problems No common CD-ROM drive was detected
#1
Hello,

I am trying to install XBMC 10.0 Live on the following hardware

MB: ASUS M2NPV-VM
CPU: AMD Athalon 64 3500+
RAM: 1000MB (2x500MB)
DVD: LiteOn iHOS104 BD ROM
HDD: OCZ Onyx Series 32GB Sata 2 2.5” solid state drive

I have burned the iso onto a DVD and it boots correctly from the LiteOn drive and I get the error "No common CD-ROM drive was detected" when the CD drive is being detected by the install wizard.

My initial thought is that the live CD does not have the drivers for a SATA BD ROM drive. Looking around google I haven't been able to find any appropriate drivers yet.

Reading the forums here I have found similar problems where people reported an inconsistent iso as the cause of their problem. These posts dealt with IDE DVD drives so I am not convinced that the ISO is the culprit. I have also been unable to find an official MD5 checksum for the iso on the website. Is there an official one available? I have found the one in this post http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=89634 and will verify mine against it.

Does anyone have experience installing XBMC Live 10.0 on similar hadware specifically a SATA Blue Ray ROM drive, and have suggestions of how to work around this problem?

Cheers,
Philip

I have checked the MD5 checksum of the ISO I downloaded and it matches the one listed in post http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=89634
