[Live/Linux] Problem With File Transfers
#1
Hey guys, kinda new to the xbmc live scene. I've been trying to customize and tweak the settings to fit my needs. After much reading, i've decided to post and see if there was any answer to the current problem i've been having.

Everything is working properly, but when I transfer the files using xbmc file manager to transfer files to the internal hard drive, I notice a big slowdown. The speed is about 20Mb/s. That's a decent speed, and I went into ethtool to see if the card was running at gigabit speeds..... it was.

When i boot the htpc to windows 7, i transfer files from my personal computer to the internal hard drive of the media pc and it goes up to around 80Mb/s - 100Mb/s.

I've tried manually forcing ethtool to gigabit speeds, even played with the duplex settings. Ideally i don't want to have to boot into windows to transfer files back and forth. I've tried everything that i could read up on, but frankly, i'm not that familiar with linux.

How is the internal hard drive partitioned?
My guess is NTFS. Try transfering files to a EXT3/4 partition.
You can read/write from/to NTFS partitions.
I don't know if the speeds come near windows speeds since windows is built upon ntfs and linux is not.
