[RELEASE] PseudoTV Addon: Virtual EPG and TV Channel Surfing Script
(2012-03-14, 14:39)thumbinollie Wrote: What I would recommend is you build your channels in such a way that they only have the PG stuff playing normally. After that's done, create another channel or channels that only play the TV-MA stuff, and set them so that they dont play. Then using the scheduling rule, have it start playing in your regular channels starting at 21:00.

I can be more detailed if you need better direction. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'd love more details if you have the time - Thanks a lot!!

Which version of XBMC do you use, and on what operating system? I'll work on a guide for this today Big Grin
CHEERS!!!! I'm on Eden Beta 2 at the mo, on Windows 7. Look forward to doing this tonight!

Thanks so much.

I havent forgotten about you, however the wifey has made her claim to my time tonight lol.

Here's a few things to work on:

First and foremost, make sure you are running the lastest stable pre of PseudoTV

Make a smart playlist in xbmc. Type is TV shows. Add a rule where the MPAA rating IS TV-MA (you'll probably have to type TV-MA out)

Save your playlist, and then click on it to see what it loads. If everything is scrapped properly, you should now have a playlist with all your TV-MA stuff.

You can create a TV channel based off that playlist. I'd set it as channel 200 or somewhere close, I keep all my hidden ones towards the end. Set a rule not to play that channel, and set it aside. Remember what channel number it is.

I'll post more later!
Thanks a lot!
I've been using PseudoTV for about 6 months now with no problems, but last week it froze up when exiting and I had to reboot my htpc. When I restarted it PTV acted like it was a new install and recreated the channel list eliminating all of the channels I had created. Can someone give me a list of the files I need to backup to prevent this from happening again?
Hey Jason, how about this:

1) If you have a Directory channel, and it plays something...can we maybe have it read the NFO file?
For example, I have very low budget movies that are on my SyFy channel - but I don't want these to be in my library, so i use a directory channel... but now it has no info, even though the NFO files are in the movies folder.

2) I would like to make a playboy channel. I want to make a generic "channel not available video" that is played all day, and then I interleave a hidden porn channel after, say...10pm...
The problem is not that I want to hide the channel as such, but just so that kids can't view it during the day (if people and their children visit)
Now...it would work....except for the fact that you can "skip shows"

So, Would it be possible to add a rule "No Time manipulation", "TrueTime", "NoPVR" or something like that?
This basically causes a specific channels playlist to be blocked from being skipped ahead via remote, skipping via EPG, rewinding or fast forwarding. Pause might be okay I guess, but that's your call.

I have heard of a few people in the thread that want this feature, because they want a more "Real" TV Experience... but I think it has other uses as well.
PS: This could also be a "global setting" in the options, for people that want it that way.

What do you think?

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\script.pseudotv\

The settings.xml and Settings2.xml is your channels setup.
Does anyone have any tips or advice based on experience with pseudoTV on how best to create your channels? I've tried the default channels, but channels like abc end up pulling mostly my old tv shows and not current abc shows so it feels more like tv land channel than abc. I've read about using smart playlists, but also see the channel rules which seem pretty extensible but a bit confusing. I have a large collection (1100 movies, 16000 episodes). Trying to create as close to a cable experience as possible, but not sure which direction to head in to get the channels to simulate a typical network channel. Curious how others have their channels setup.

See my thread here:

Has anyone had any luck getting channels with links to Amazon or Netflix video to work with PseudoTV? I have a folder of tv shows from Amazon (have also tried with Netflix) with local metadata and proper file structure that I generated using Mylibrary and supplemented with NFO metadata and images fetched with MediaScout. I can browse and play them in XBMC either through my library (visually it looks the same within XBMC as my local TV show library) or by making playlists but no method I have tried works within PseudoTV. When the episodes did not get put into regular channels I tried the directory option plus using a smart playlist which does function in XBMC but PseudoTV seems to ignore them and just does not create the channel. Any ideas? I can browse and play them but I'd like to have PseudoTV channels containing them.

Thanks
Anybody know where I can download older versions? This new one does not work with openelec Eden and I heard older versions might.

What doesn't work in openelec? I just recently setup things up and started using PTV on openelec. It seemed to work fine for me.

The channel sharing does not work. Just says "Unable to find any channels" and I have it set up EXACTLY the same way I do on my Windows systems. But I also can not get it to make it's own channels even without sharing. It almost randomly picks channels to generate (4,9,12) and then only chooses from like 4-5 shows. If I delete the channels it generates, it will generate different ones and use different shows. But still will ONLY use a few shows. I also tried making a channel with just one show and it skips it entirely. I don't have the slightest problem with PTV on my other systems and I have been using it for quite some time... I am familiar with the program and setting up channels. I have uninstalled it and deleted the user-data a few times and every time I try to generate channels, it only grabs a few shows.
Ok... so I got it to make the regular channels and even one for a particular show. But it still will not make a custom playlist channel, nor will it channel share.

I THINK I GOT IT!
I was unable to make a custom playlist channel when the playlist had a long name "Classic Comedies" on the openelec system. I shortened it to "Classic" and the channel added. I am guessing this may also be why I can't channel share with the other systems? Many of the shared channels are the longer names.
I've created several playlists to use as channels. Whenever PseudoTV tries to build the channels it is encountering a lot of filelocks (see below) and the only channel that is displayed is the first channel. I am running Eden RC2 with PseudoTV 2.0.0 (Latest Stable-Pre).
