I used to use XBMC 10.0 Dharma on my pc with keyboard w mouse click

Now I set up a Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11-U + Win7 ultimate + XBMC 10.0 Dharma + 40 inch HDTV in the living room.

-I need a remote with some kind of mouse function so i can bring up sub-menu using Right mouse button.

-It has to be easy to use so my wife can use it.

-My wife use the "I" on keyboard for info a lot , How can i do that on a remote?

I have these cheap remote in mind :

-Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition

Thanks

The upper remote is a rebadged Ortek VRC-1100, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...s#VRC-1100, and it's OK as remotes go. In fact I have one connected to my HTPC at the moment because I've been testing it. The "i" button helpfully sends a right mouse click, which means it can't be used for anything useful. Apart from that the remote will work out of the box with XBMC v10.0.

The lower remote is a rebadged AURC-001, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...MCE_remote, and it's one of the nastier remotes I've used. I would avoid it like the plague.

From your post I guess you require a handset with mouse emulation built in. The VRC-1100 works as well as any, but using the mouse from the handset is a fiddly and slow business. I normally (when I'm not testing RCs) use a Microsoft remote and on the rare occasions I need a mouse I turn on my wireless keyboard/touchpad.

Thanks

So, for the VRC-1100, i can add mappings for the four coloured keys and the four keys under those (total 8)to any keyboard shortcut I want ?

Also , Can I just use this VRC-1100 and make it shutdown the XBMC, then Win7 and my HTPC (Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11-U)? If so How?

Yes. I think all eight buttons already have mappings as they are the usual MCE remote buttons.

Yes, the bottom left button is labelled "Close" and sends alt-F4. Press it once to close XBMC, then press it again to close Windows. The power button at the top right will put the PC into standby and (if your BIOS supports it) wake the PC again.
