I installed latest XBMC Live version named Dharma and I have problem, that sound via HDMI isn't working. When I switch to analog, sound is working. Under version 9.11 was all ok, so I think ther must be any way how to get HDMI sound running. There isn't any error message - so I think it must be a mixer problem, but in alsamixer I can't see setup for HDMI.

You may well need to update to the latest NVidia drivers if you have an NVidia card.

which had slightly newer drivers than Ubuntu offers through its restricted driver dialog. This fixed my issue of not playing sound from HD files, drivers with version numbers 195 or less are known to have issues with HDMI sound, so check the version.
