- The performance of XBMC's interface could be better: faster, more responsive (using a lighter skin may help): http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=91541
- Hardware decoding is for h264 only. As a result, 720p XviD, WMV and other HD encodings stutter. Standard definition should work. Several threads about this: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=6...post699902 http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=7...post701054 http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=700647&postcount=8

Thanks to everyone who's been posting and citing their findings well.
Just wanted to give a quick note to nmat about this point: nmat Wrote:- The performance of XBMC's interface could be better: faster, more responsive (using a lighter skin may help): http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=91541 I've left this off of the first post because it would seem from topfs2's reply that this is mostly a hardware limitation. Although some optimisation could be done, the performance is fundamentally limited by the hardware, making this more of a hardware issue than a problem with XBMC itself. Thanks again |

Sleep time is set to "never" when exiting XBMC, I'm told it should reset to the original value.

The normal XBMC log IS NOT a debug log, to enable debug logging you must toggle it on under XBMC Settings - System or in advancedsettings.xml. Use XBMC Debug Log Addon to retrieve it. |

Actually, it's software too, XBMC does some things by pure brute force. On platforms with virtually unlimited CPU, you never notice. Once you start running in an environments like arm, then this approach does not work. We know about these things and they don't change overnight but we are investigating them. See xbmc's google summer of code from last year for example. MediaInfo : http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/ Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. |

Saw the news about XBMC, went out and bought 2 ATV2's. Jailbroke 1, then installed XBMC. Really depressed when my 1080p mpeg2's all stuttered and buffered, despite me being wired in. Took them both back today. Now I read that it may all work out alright in the end anyway. I will be watching with interest...

so I suppose this only works on ipod touch gen 4? I see nowhere that only gen 4 is supported except for a couple youtube videos. When I try to load xbmc on gen 2 it the icon jumps like its going to load but does nothing.
