I am sorry if this is in the wrong place... the amount of information for XBMC is a bit overwhelming. I have a simple problem (ha):

I have a Yamaha RX-Z7 home theater receiver that will play audio files that are on a PC. However, it needs Windows Media Player 11 or better. I use Ubuntu 10.04, not windows. I was wondering if XBMC would work as a WinMP11 substitute and thus allow me to stream my audio files to my receiver?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Nice Amp! It also support the old windows media connect which was just a upnp server, so I would think xbmc's upnp will work just fine for that.
