I run XBMC 10 on a Kubuntu 10.04 system and I use two separate X screens through xorg.conf (Nvidia 8600 GS, 195.36.24). XBMC opens fine on screen 2, but I have a bad tearing issue with video. It is practically unwatchable, and I have no idea how to solve it. I have enabled VDPAU but the tearing is still there. I have disabled all Desktop effects, but no difference.
I read somewhere that VDPAU is not going to work if you run XBMC on a separate X (Xinerama) system. And according to my CPU spikes while playing 30-35GB .m2ts files, that seems about right. But I'm not really sure that is the issue here. If I turn off XBMC and play a video (iso, mkv, m2ts) in fullscreen mode on screen 2 through VLC for instance, it plays without any tearing at all.
And if I just use one screen in xorg.conf I can play everything in XBMC without tearing. VDPAU enabled or not... doesn't matter.
How do I get rid of the tearing issue while playing videos in XBMC on a second screen (Xinerama enabled in xorg.conf)?
Anyone?
