[LIVE] Which is the best IR Remote Control for XBMC on Linux?

So I bought a Netgear NeoTV and it has a remote that I like the layout of - better than the MCE remotes that I have seen.

Is there a way to learn these buttons and assign them to an action?

I am assuming that lirc is running somewhere in there so it should be possible.

Does the IR receiver matter at all or should I be able to use any of the ones that I currently have
