Second Season not showing in Library
#1
Hello all,

I am having a odd issue when I am adding TV shows into the Library. What I have is a 72 episode series that is two seasons long. I am running the latest version of XBMC.

I have been naming the files:

101.Episode 1
102.Episode 2

XMBC picks this up correctly as Season 1 Episode 1

When I try to use the next naming convention:

201.Episode 1
202.Episode 2

The Season 2 folder is not created, and the files will not appear.

I tried the following folder structure changes as well:

TV Show

Season 1
101.Episode 1
Season 2
201.Episode 2

And still no luck on seeing the Season 2 files. If I rename the first season 2 episode to match the season 1 naming convention, the files show up as a regular season 1 file.

I am not worried about scraping the content as this particular TV show is a Japanese Anime that is not very main stream (No not tentacle porn Smile ) so I know the individual episode names and specific content will not show.

I did read the wiki:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=TV_...Library%29

I am kind of lost here, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just tried your 1st naming convention with some dummy mkv files and they appear as they should. Remember to see the episodes in their season folders you will have to be viewing in Library mode. They will not create Season folders in Windows Explorer, or for that matter file view in xbmc

Just had a thought what are you expecting to see in XBMC, if there is no data on the series you are referring to?

Thanks I am pretty sure I am looking at it in Library mode. ( I currently am running a Aeon Skin (Aeon65 I beleive) so I select TV Shows from the first screen and then I am presented with a List of TV shows, next menu shows my by seasons (Or Season in this case) and then the list of episodes.

I am expecting to see inside of XBMC the multiple season folders and the episodes for each. Since nothing can be scraped for the additional content (IE Episode names, cast, plot etc) I just want to see my file names.

This works fro everything I number 101.Episode1, 102.Episode2, etc. but when I create a file name of 201.Episode1 the season 2 folder for that show does not show up, nor do the episodes.

When I get home I will test some more, luckily this box is just my test system while I await parts for my HTPC build that should be in today Smile

hmm, I have all 175 episodes of Two and Half men, all in one folder called, Two and Half Men.

The episodes are named

Two And Half Men.s01e01.mkv thru Two And Half Men.s08e14.mkv all show up perfectly in XMBC with scrapped info and individual box cover art for each season, it all works perfect, don't have to do anything manually.

Maybe I can try your naming convention with my files and see what happens.

Thanks so much for your help with this, I will post and let you know if it is resolved.

I'm not sure that a change to naming convention will make a great deal of difference. I might be wrong, but I fail to see how anything can show up in the library if you aren't scraping anything - in this instance you would have to have custom made nfo files with the files so that XBMC scarped the info for Library mode from there. Huh

As a backup plan I am adding the info I have to thetvdb.com to see if that has any effect at all as well.

I'm still learning here, so will see what happens Smile

Certainly doing that will make the information available to the scraper, well done - will also save the next person a similar problem. Its fairly straightforward - information has to be in the scraper for it appear in xbmc, or custom made nfo files have to be included with files.

Happy to report that this was 100% a scraping issue. The database that I first tried to get the information from had all 72 episodes listed as a single season.
