Windows 7 Audio Output
#1
Please forgive my ignorance on this... as long as I have been using XBMC i have always been outputting audio via *gasp* stereo rca cables.

I recently upgraded my setup and now everything goes via HDMI to the tuner, then out to the tv.

Here's what I have done: In Windows control panel I changed the audio output (playback) to

Digial Audio (HDMI) 2- High Definition Audio Device

In the properties of that device, its showing Max number of channels as 2 AND if I got into configuration I get only stereo shown as an option.

In my XBMC set up, I have the output set to HDMI and my channels set to 5.1 (which works fine btw, it does in fact address all of the speakers) however if I set XBMC to Dolby Digital or DTS receiver (its both) I get no audio from those sources (stereo sources continue to work just fine).

I have an NVIDIA Geforce 9300 NForce 730i motherboard and receiver is a Pioneer VSX-520-k if that helps.

I know I'm missing something silly, any help would be appreciated.

That solved the problem. Documenting in case anyone else has this issue.
