Hi all,

Have been playing with my newly purchased ATV2. I'm slowly learning all the little tricks to the XBMC interface from all the posts here and from much trial and error.

One thing that I can't seem to fix is the scraping of non-series based TV shows. Here in Canada, we cannot receive History Channel or Discovery from the US, so it has to be downloaded.

An example is History Channel - The Templar Code. How can I get this to appear in my TV shows list? It won't scrape from theTVDB.com and it won't show up in the library view.

Any ideas why?

Thanks for the help!

I don't know if there's a better way, but there is an option to "manually add to library" in the context menu of an individual epsiode. Press and hold the menu button on a file to bring up the context menu. As far as I can see this can only be done for individual files though, not with whole series, but I could be wrong. Obviously you won't get all the artwork etc doing it this way though.

I suggest you visit theTVDB.com and search for the episode listing. That way you will find the series and episode number and the scraping will be automated once labelled and placed in the correct folder.

I tried doing that, but I don't see the naming convention for the show anywhere.

For example, the show "Ancient Aliens" is a History Channel special ( I think). The show is in the TVDB.com database, but I don't see any naming convention there. Another example is a series like Fringe. When you look at the TVDB database, where do you find the naming convention?

Thanks!!

Go to the shows page on TVDB.com then just scroll down until you see the heading 'Seasons'. Under this you can click an individual season or click 'All' to show all episodes. Here's a direct link to fringe for an example: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=82066&lid=7

Thanks for the help.

I was able to figure out some of the nomenclature for naming shows. Series and episodic TV shows - I'm OK with now.

What I still have issues with is the Discovery and History Channel shows.

For example In Search of History - Salem Witch Trials is in the History Channel Documentaries section

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=80996&lid=7

The season and episode is listed as 2005 - 07. So when I label the show I did this:

History Channel Documentaries - In Search Of History - The Salem Witch Trials S2005E07. But it doesn't work. Should the season be listed as S00E07?

Finally, the structure for the directory. Since "In Search Of History" is not a one episode show, I assume it goes in its' own folder?

History Channel Documentaries/In Search of History/The Salem Witch Trials S00E07

Would that be correct?

Thanks again for the help. It is much appreciated!

Just tried this out on my Windows version of XBMC.

Tried the filename

S2005E07 In search of history the salem witch trials.avi

Scanning to the library worked fine. So get rid of the separate folder for "In search of History" and give that name a go. If you want the file in another folder inside the the history channel documentaries folder, then try labelling it "season 2005" rather than "In search of history".

File path was
Videos/TV Shows/History Channel Documentaries/S2005E07 In search of history the salem witch trials.avi
