Hello All,

Well today with the gracious help of eskro, I put together a list of parts I will be purchasing to build my first every HTPC, it will actually be my first ever PC build as well; have always purchased pre-built systems. In any event I welcome any comments you may have positive or negative.

Here is the list: Prices are in CDN

cpu - Athlon X2 3.0GHz AM3 65W ($59.99) http://tinyurl.com/496qt24

ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws 2 x 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 ($39.99) http://tinyurl.com/47qb6n3
gpu ZOTAC GT430 1GB DDR3 128-bit Low Profile ($79.99 - $15 mir) http://tinyurl.com/4qpzl8a
ssd - Corsair Nova 2.5" 32GB SATAII ($74.99) http://tinyurl.com/4679b56
case - Silverstone ML03B mATX ($64.99) http://tinyurl.com/465wuw3
psu - Corsair CMPSU-430CX 430 Watt ($44.99 - $25.00 mir) http://tinyurl.com/36m966f
fans - APEVIA CF4SL-WHT 80mm Case Fan (4 * $2.99)http://tinyurl.com/4d4kjrp

I may use an old 2.5 laptop hard drive in place os the ssd to save some money; haven't really decided.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

yeah i really believe its a great HTPC for him!
that SilverStone Case really looks great!

only thing, case has great ventilation 'holes' but doesnt include Fans....
thats why i suggested him to buy 4 very low noise Fans to put inside...

Air Flow: 16.85 CFM
Noise Level: 16.6 dBA

if any of you guys know any other fans that a very low noise
and would be great for that HTPC, just tell us Smile

although i think that those 4 APEVIA 80mm Fans are great overall!
they dont move crazy air, but since he can fit in 4 of those in his HTPC,
i think its more then adequate!

and price is very reasonable too --> $2.99/each
i know he's on a tight budget... thats the main thing Smile

so, what do you guys think?

thanks!

hehe....eskro is right I am on a tight budget.
I don't have a 3D tv but wanted to make the build as future proof as possible; hoping it lasts me a couple of years.

if you asked me, I would first try without those APEVIA fans.. I don't think you'll need them. The cpu is only a 65W one and I'm pretty sure it will sit mostly idle, so there's not that much heat to disipate.

true but, every case needs to move air somehow....
and since he's ordering from Newegg, if he buys the fans at the same time as his HTPC,
he saves on shipping a little...
because if he buys them separately later on, just the shipping to canada is $10,,,

If I don't need the fans would I be better off with this case? http://tinyurl.com/62km5dc
People complain about the power supply though.
Too many choices.

ok I thought I would try and bring the cost down a little.

Do you think I would be able to power off/on this PC?
Probably going to use Windows 7 64 bit and latest XBMC.
