We only set a resume bookmark if you're past 3 minutes into the film and have more than 8% to go. This is in master/trunk only at this point, but is also scheduled in Dharma 10.1.

This alleviates the difficulty of knowing when to resume pretty much automatically. There's a smartplaylist facility for in progress items already IIRC, giving exactly what you need, other than the listing on home.

Correct - the script will only be any use if you want it on the homescreen.

The script could probably just use the vfs API in JSONRPC to fetch the smartplaylist, and then set a couple of properties.
