custom background and avatar question

Hey everyone,

im somewhat new here and didnt see this posted although im sure its been asked and if it has then IM SORRY in advance!!

1- Is there a specific resolution for creating a custom background?

and

2- Is the avatar mod working or still being tested out? i dont seem to have the option in my customization tab.

the avatar isn't being worked on, if someone wants to make a proper one I'll add it more than likely. the best resolution for this skin is 720p so 1280x720 px

1 - i choosed wallpaper , which equally my screen rezolution (for ex. if rezolution 1680x1050, i used image with same size)

2 - avatar mod (like in xbox) wont work with last version of xbmc
but it runs normally in 9.11, but i cannot make transparent b-g on avatar, thats my big problem Eek
