it only works with Windows 7 though. I've tried it and it works really well.

Looks excellent!
I searched for voice in the forums but didn't see anything that talks about it, maybe I am blind.

I will defiantly be giving it a go over the holidays. Does it work with Dharma?

Yes, it works with Dharma. Just set up voice recognition in Windows and use any USB mic you may have (I plugged in my Guitar Hero USB microphone and it worked fine).

Check the forums out over there if you have any issues setting it up.

I believe it works with Vista as well...

Yes it works with Windows Vista or Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit, but not XP

It works with Dharma.

You don't need to run it on the same machine as xbmc since it uses the http web api to control xbmc, it just needs to be running on the same lan as xbmc.

You can use any microphone (usb or just plugged in to the mic jack), but a wired headset will work best. It also works really well with the amulet remote which has a built in wireless microphone, and doubles as an mce ir remote.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh.

i want this so bad :-D but i can't have it because i'm running windowsXP. It's taken me months to get my XP HTPC just the way I want it, so I can't face starting again with windows 7.

am I completely screwed or is there any way of installing patched to XP so that it can run vox commando?

well done jitterjames on your amazing work

can i run voxcommando on my windows 7 starter laptop and get it to tell my windows xp xbmc machine what to do?

Sorry. I've never heard of anyone getting VoxCommando to work on XP, but you are right, you can run VC on your Win7 machine and it will send commands to XBMC on another machine through the network. XBMC could be running on XP, Linux, or whatever.

Thanks fr taking the time to post. Where can I learn more about how to set this up?

For example, do I just need voxcommando on the windows 7 machine or do i need xbmc on it as well?

@thebearnecessit: Sorry I did not reply to your post until now. I did not see the notification for your message.

VC (VoxCommando) and XBMC do not need to be on the same system. VC can control XBMC running on another systerm via the network.

VC is pretty much plug an play with Eden, but we are still working on communication with Frodo. Should be ready about the same time that Frodo final is ready though, I think.

We just released a new version of VoxCommando which supports XBMC Frodo RC3.

I also started a new thread since this one is pretty long.

Hi

I am interested in VoxCommando, just watched a couple of demo videos on YouTube. I already own a Amulet voice remote was using it with Windows MCE. Now running Linux Ubuntu XBMC.

So I think I would have to install the VC software on to my WHS2011 server and install the VC XBMC add-on on the Linux HTPC.
Question - Can I setup custom voice commands? Say a voice command "Lights On" and then have VC on the WHS server run a .CMD file? Which in turn would send a HTTP request to my Home Automation system (VeraLite) to turn on the Z-wave lights.

How does VC for XBMC compare to Amulet for MCE ?

Thanks.

What about building Voice Control for XBMC using Jasper: http://jasperproject.github.io/

Jasper uses CMU Sphinx for voice recognition so you'd probably just be better off using XBMCVC since it uses CMU Sphinx also and it already has basic XBMC support:

I've played about this recently too - can get basic functions (play stop volume) but it's pretty sketchy and I never got it working continuously (it always cut off the start so wouldn't work).

Would be great if Kodi had an integrated voice control API and support for speech recognition plugins as service addons.

Maybe based on the new Web Speech API specification https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/speech-api/raw-fi...chapi.html

Would otherwise also be very cool if the search function for addons like kodivc/xbmcvc could be enhanced by using Web Speech API via Zypr, Google Speech, or similar online cloud services for advanced advanced speech recognition powered by by third-parties Being able to leverage powerful third-party online cloud services for advanced speech recognition instead of having to rely on offline speech recognition would really take voice control support in Kodi to the next level to the next level.

Maybe then it would be possible to enable enhanced keyword searches instead of having to spell each letter just to do an searches as suggested here

This screen maybe work speech to text? ı think this is usefull feature. Some think this is how work.

Microfone--> xbmc --> Google speech to text api --> Text ->> Text in textbox the end.
Bump this now that both Amazon Fire TV and Google Nexus Player (Android TV) have good proof-of-concept for these.

This of course relate both directly and indirectly to this other old thread about voice recognition and control

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=9280

Now days there are also ways of accessing third-party open APIs online such as Google Speech and Apple HomeKit / Siri.

There is also Zypr API which aggregates many of those third-party APIs for voice commnads https://www.zypr.net

Again a proof-of-concept is Amazon Fire TV which have a very good "Voice Search" feature which shows how voice command adds accessibility to the search function in a media player

Don't get me wrong, offline speech recognition for basic voice commands still have its place for simple control usage, but it can not compete when doing advanced keyword searching.

Here is an article which lists some pros and cons of offline verses online speech recognition http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/2015/02...d-smarttv/
