windows backend soln....

tv scheduler pro is very stable and super easy to use. Its no frills but has functionality for repeat scheduling and post run tasks etc and its FREE!. it runs as a windows service and so very reliably wakes up computer from hibernate to start capture

combine with xmltv epg data and its just too easy

whats more ive written an XBMC addon to offer basic control of TV scheduler pro. livetv is not supported but who needs that...i have a tv that does that 10 times better than running over a network

theres not too many other windows backend options and the few that exist are more complicated to set up and configure

ive been up and running for years now and will stick with tv scheduler pro until its no longer supported under windows. works on win7 64bit for now.

you do know in what section of the forum you're posting, don't you?

I'd really like to use XBMC for everything, also for watching TV, but I'm still missing a backend implementing timeshift. I know there is initial support for timeshift on windows-pvr branch using the mediaPortal TV-Server as backend - but this timeshift currently only supports "pause/play" - you can't seek within your timeshift buffer - and that's something I absolutely need. Does anybody have a currently working recommendation for that?

IMHO Timeshift is currently not in focus cause there are other things to do (code cleanup, merging, ...)

haifischjunge, what usb sat adapter are you using with what backend?

i have a tevii s660 which i cannot get to work properly.

at the moment i'm using tvheadend as a backend and i have to say things are pretty stable. I (my wife) only misses the teletext feature with tvheadend, this does work with vdr.

@Dushmaniac
any change to get that supported in tvheadend?
i know i could try myself like you said in the personal mail but i'm not a programmer Smile, maybe someone else interested looking into tt support with tvheadend? Big Grin

With kind regards

William

Im using the TT3600 S-2 USB thingi, so far it looks good, but Im on ski vacation and here ive got terrible reception so I came only to the point where everything was working by principle but wasnt usable.

now im back home but have to work a lot due to the past week absence so I dont know when I will recheck my setup.

(right now I using ubuntu 10.04 in parallels for the backend server and an old (quite unstable) build of xbmc-pvr for mac-os.

the target would be to have everything running on my appletv1 (most probably downgrading to 8.04), but thats a long way.

Could you please post here your experience with your usb adapter like channel zap times and system load under usage?

With kind regards
