I'm building an XBMC machine with a Radeon HD 4650 on Windows 7 for connection to a 480i television over component. I've been testing it out and I've hit an issue: Flicker
Mainly, sharp 720x480 video flickers on a 480i display. It looks fine on a progressive VGA monitor but it makes fine lines and suck flicker. For Xbox1, XBMC had a 'Flicker Filter' which could deal with this. Infact, when you set it to 0, the results from the Xbox look identical to what this PC is giving. I know that flicker is common for SDTV output from computers because there are no blurring flicker filters.
However, the flicker is annoying, so I'm open to suggestions on how to deal with it. (Other than 'get a progressive display'.)
