Anime MKV SSA subtitle support debug thread
#1
I'm trying to understand why anime subtitles won't display while standard movie ones do. I assume it's the difference between SSA and "standard" subs. The purpose of this thread is to show some examples and hopefully the devs can glean something from it.

Details :

XBMC Version : Platform: Mac OS X (10.4.0 AppleTV2,1). Built on Feb 7 2011 (Git:cee5417)
ATV IOS Version : 4.2.1
Debug Log : Pastebin
Install Method : apt-get upgrade
Reproduce :
* Share on a Win7 machine with smb
* Wired connection (gigabit)
* Latest one piece episode ****removed torrent link *****

anyway you could stick the sample in a dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com) ? I don't do torrents, sorry.

I have to run to work right now, so I'll have to post logs in a bit, but I wanted to mention something that just happen now. I'm messing around a bit with some stuff to see if bluetooth keyboards are fully working (and it is!) and I'm getting some blizzard behavior with today's (2/7/10) build. ASS subs weren't working for me before, but now they're... kind of working. The video seems to switch between menu and actually playing the video (as if someone was pressing "tab" repeatedly, which may be a keyboard issue) and when it does switch you can see a fuzzy white static-ish outline of the subtitles.

Before this they either don't show up at all (2/6/10 build) or they show up with incorrect formatting (unofficial nightly builds). I have a boat load of MKVs with ass subs from different groups over the years, and it seems to be pretty consistent.

I'll post my logs when I get home (the debug log add-on that posts things to pastebin is giving me problems and I'm already running late for work. Sorry for the incomplete report for now!)

davilla, i'll cut a sample and upload to dropbox tonight

Star Driver episode 17 http://www.fileserve.com/file/Un2mUzz (400MB+) is working with ass/stylized subs for me now. Okay, I'm actually going to work now. There's the direct-download link for the whole episode if anyone else wants to try it.
