2 ch audio optical passthrough - no sound
#1
Hi

I cannot get XBMC to play any sound using a optical connection. Windows System sounds and MC7 plays fine, so it must be a XBMC related problem.

I have set Audio output to "Digital" (don't know what this parameter is for when there's a Audio output device) and Audio output device to the same as works with MC7.

I'm using Win 7 Home Premium 32bit and a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H mainboard.

Make sure the audio isn't muted in XBMC. Play a video or something, and hit the + key on the keyboard (SHIFT+=) to see if that's your problem. I was having the same issue with mine.

Thanks, I just figured this out a few hours before reading your reply. Searching this forum, I found a thread about XBMC not reacting to multimedia volume cmd's, so I plugged in a keyboard (I'm using XBMC in a pure htpc environment with a remote only) and hit "+", and sure enough the sound started to pour from the speakers.

I remapped my remote volume buttons to send "+" and "-", and all is fine now.
