Hi All,

Not sure how many have noticed but the wiki has quite a bit of spam. Any I've come across i've edited and put the {{delete}} tag in, it seems though this mediawiki setting isn't enabled so isn't marking the pages for deletion.

at least its getting rid of the spam links from the wiki

FAO SITE MODS: if you want to raise my account level i'll go through and delete the pages.

For now, please link them here.
Alternatively hook up with pike on irc to get elevated.

Why the hell are those able to create pages?

I see you've been battling with more SPAM today. I've had a look here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Special:Log/move and there are lots of SPAM pages (and some users) going back to October 29 that are still extant. For example: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=E_cigarette

Should I delete the content and/or mark the page for deletion in some way?

As to how they are able to do it, I'm not sure. They seem to create a page under their own username or Talk: and then be able move it somewhere else on the wiki. This page says http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Pre...e_creation that there are separate rights for creating talk pages and creating non-talk pages. Maybe createtalk needs to be locked down more??

These should be locked down properly now. The problem is that the users were registered before the settings were changed.
