How Do I...
#1
My apologyies for asking such a simple question. However, how in the heck do I add different sections on my home menu?

I would like to add a UFC section and have all of my UFC matches in them, a Kung Fu section so I can have all of my Shaw Brothers filmes in there, Anime so I can have all of them in that sectioon.

Can someone point me in the wright direction? Thanks..

You don't.

Well, technically you don't. But there are ways around that.

First, the technical limit:
XBMC only recognizes music videos, movies and tv shows. There are no sub-categories or alternate groupings. There may or may not be a library re-write in the future. I've heard one is planned but I've not noticed any official announcement and I'm not part of the dev team so I won't make any commitments for them.

Now, the workarounds:
There are basically three ways to get around this limitation.
1) Use a fake tv show to collect your non-standard videos
2) Use profiles to separate everything
3) Use smart playlists and custom home buttons and/or menus to fake extra categories

Option 1 (fake tv show) works nicely but only in very limited circumstances. I doubt it'll give you what you want but here's a thread on how to do it:

Option 2 (profiles) also works well for some people. I personally don't like the way it "feels" but here's the how-to just in case it works for you:

Option 3 (smart playlists) is probably the most popular approach. Depending on the skin you use it can be quite easy to add the home buttons or menus etc. Here's a good starting point:

But I'd suggest you look at the actual options available within your skin before going with the second part of the instructions. They involve actually hacking your skin which might make things perfect for you or might be a waste of effort if you're happy with what your skin can do with tweaking a few settings.

Hope that helps.

I use Transparency! pretty much exclusively.

It's very fanart-centric which puts off some people but it's really easy to customize the home screen. I'm willing to assist but keep in mind that I'm not on the forums every day. If you need a quick response to anything, ask in the Transparency! forum... people are very helpful there.
