Can't get surround sound...?
#1
Hey guys,

Weird issue here. I've got a Yamaha RX-V467 receiver, that is obviously capable of decoding surround sound. Mind you, I've only got a 2.1 setup on it (but, I have installed an exactly similar setup on my sister's computer without my present issue).

For some reason, XBMC (10.0) fails to initialize the audio device UNLESS I deselect the "Receiver capable of AC3" and "Receiver capable of DTS" options in the Audio control panel in the System settings. If I uncheck those, I get sound.

Not a big deal, but it still shouldn't happen, and I'm just concerned about what would happen if I did add some speakers eventually. I believe the receiver should be doing the downmixing, not XBMC. For what it's worth, computer is an Asus M4A88T-D motherboard, using onboard HD4250 graphics and HDMI sound. HDMI cable from computer, to receiver, with receiver sending video to TV.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

What happens if you select a 5.1 set up?

That's what I've got right now. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether I select a 5.1 or 2.1 setup.
