Bit of a nooob, and new user to a forum

i have installed xmbc on my laptop using xp works fine well pleased with it, just installed it onto my desktop and it comes up with the following error

This application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

i have tried re-installing xmbc, with and without my anti virus enabled, no difference, uninstall re start re install etc no change but still comes up with the same error when i go to start it

any ideas ?

after copying two missing .dlls from my laptop to my desktop, xbmc now works, thw two dlls were

d3d9.dll and d3d8thk.dll

both copyed from system32 folder

bit of a pain but it now works sorry for the wasted post

Hi Rob, the best option is to download and run the DirectX installer from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...ceb6d8fa8d as this will ensure you have all the bits of DirectX 9 installed.

Thanks jhsrennie ill do that now, next task is to configure programs but im getting there and liking it
