Remember, it is lastest DSPlayer not DSCodec.

So is DSCodec still pointless to use with XP as the op mentioned?

Hi,

I've just come across this information and i have to say i am very, very excited for this new project to take effect.

Can i ask if this new codec will allow me to run xbmc on xp, but still give me the benefits/advantages that i currently have running, coreavc, MPC-HC, ffdshow and EVR Custom?

The advantages for me with my current setup are:

Very fast Hardware Decoding using CoreAVC,
Quality Controll and Output Control/conversion, post-processing etc,
FFDShows amazing audio capabilities, options and configurations,
MPC-HC's amazing user control, configuration and quaility control,
EVR's ability to render faster and at a higher quality than vmr9,

When this codec is implamented it will be amazing!

Speaking as an xp user, i have encountered numerous hiccups using xbmc and had top register on many forums to get help. Along the way i have realised that there is a HUGE XP user base within xbmc's community, all of which currently use workarounds to get xbmc working correctly (such as mpc-hc, the dsplayer version etc) and i for 1 will be ready with paypal to donate when this comes alive.

I hope this will be able to offer me the same level of control i currently have with coreavc and ffdshow and look forward to following its development.

As a quick side note,
Could anyone explain why xbmc refuses to use directshow filters such as ffdshow or coreavc? How difficult is it to tell it to use those filters and is there a reason why that is not an acceptible option? Or if its possiblt embedd MPC-HC into xbmc as its native player?

I know that good explan ations will exist and have probsbly been discussed before but i havent come across a set in stone reason as to why external filters are not used?
