as i sad in post #2 this will not work. The only thing is, that xbmc would translate the pass to the smb:// thing and this substituted path would be given to sqlite which only can handle local pathes... that is the fact.

Ok, sorry for the confusion. I thought XBMC and in that SQLite would just acces the special path without knowing it was really located somewhere else.

I've reverted this commit, need to create a trac ticket so it can be discussed and a good solution found.
