Hi,
I have added a samba location for use with My Pictures Database addon but despite repeated efforts it won't find any pictures on the samba mount. It can read my local photos fine but it seems to fail when accessing the remote mounted samba file system.

The remote file system has full read and write. This is on the latest packages on Ubuntu Maverick.

Any advice would a great help as I am currently stumped.

CH

So I have found the following in the log file:

Looks like a bug in how the plugin works with the path. Anyone else seen this?

So I found the issue.

I have used a dynamic mount of the samba share rather than statically mounting the remote file system to a directory locally. This caused the python to be unable to access the path supplied to give a directory listing.

I have changed the mount to be hardcoded into /etc/fstab and to mount from /media/photos Pointing the add on at this mount point allows for full indexing with zero issues.

Why even bother mounting it with SMB? Whats the advantage? Is the XBMC machine a Desktop environment? What are the two OS's?

Just access it with SMB dont mount it.

I too am having problems of a similar nature, I use network drives which are shred on my network and when trying to scan for pictures using mypictures, it reports no files found. There is nothing wrong with the share, I can see all the files OK.
