Folders containing DVD-Video content are not displayed
#1
Hi,

I have a server share mounted in XBMC. Now I have the following problem: if there is a folder containing DVD-Video content, like Video_ts.ifo, vobs, etc., the folder is not displayed in XBMC, as long as this folder is located in the root of my share.

E.g., I have mounted a share called \\Myserver\Musicvideos, and when I put a folder "Test" in there, that contains ifos and Vobs, it is NOT displayed.

However, when I create a subfolder, say Test\Test2, and place the Video files there, the folder is displayed, and I can also play the DVD content.

I think this is a major bug in the latest Dharma release, can anybody please try this and confirm?

Thanks.

Not the case here.

I have a network share \\myserver\video and an XBMC source to "smb://myserver/video, and I created a directory called Test so "dir \\myserver\video\test" gives:

Code:
D:\temp>dir \\myserver\video\test
Volume in drive \\myserver\video has no label.
Volume Serial Number is F467-0968

Directory of \\myserver\video\test

27/02/2011  08:05    <DIR>          .
27/02/2011  08:05    <DIR>          ..
17/01/2011  09:06            12,288 VIDEO_TS.BUP
17/01/2011  09:06            12,288 VIDEO_TS.IFO
17/01/2011  09:06            59,392 VIDEO_TS.VOB
17/01/2011  09:06            90,112 VTS_01_0.BUP
17/01/2011  09:06            90,112 VTS_01_0.IFO
17/01/2011  09:06        16,838,656 VTS_01_0.VOB
17/01/2011  09:05     1,073,709,056 VTS_01_1.VOB
17/01/2011  09:05     1,073,709,056 VTS_01_2.VOB
17/01/2011  09:05        60,102,656 VTS_01_3.VOB

and the directory "Test" does appear in the file listing when I select my source, and it does play the video.

Hi,

thanks jhsrennie, it seems that I have been fooled by the way XBMC sorts videocontent, because if you mix folders containing videwofiles like AVI or MKV, with ones containing DVD content, and switch to sort it alphabetically by name or file, then the DVD folders are displayed last in the list. The same is true when you sort them by date, obviously DVD-folders do not have a date associated to them.

The only question is: why is XBMC doing this?

Due to the stacking and selected sort method most likely.
