Hello there,
I have installed Alaska because it was the only one that blatantly supported unicode out of the box.

Once installed I made sure font was set to "Default" but I still got empty boxes instead of characters. If I then replace the arial.ttf font with arialuni.ttf and change the font setting to "Arial" instead of "Default", it works.

There must be something missing.
Any ideas?

What happens if you change from Default to Arial without replacing the font?

Well I didn't try that since I was hoping to keep Alaska's font in the first place.
I thought Arial.ttf didn't have unicode support anyways, am I wrong?

Arial.ttf have full range unicode glyphs since Dharma beta1.

oh, nice to know thanks for the info...
still I am puzzled as I thought Alaska wouldn't have to rely on the Arial font.
If I switch to Arial, I will loose some aspects of the Alaska layout.

That, unfortunately, is the price you pay.
