When I play files over 3 gigs, mkv, avi...it buffers every 30 seconds. Any tips on how to get rid of that problem?

Conversely, when I play large mp4 files just in itunes on the apple tv, there aren't any buffering problems. Any advice?

I should add that i'm playing the files off a macbook pro...
