No HDMI audio from XVID .avi movies
#1
I recently figured out that my Video drivers where causing my XVID files to run choppy, but now Im running into another issue:

When I start up one of those movies, a pop up in the corner says "Failed to initialize audio device". Of course I dont get any audio and I have to switch the audio output from HDMI to Analog.

This doesnt happen when I load any other type of file, just XVID .avi files.

Im running a Zotac MAG with 2GGB of RAM and an NVidia ION chipset

Any help would be appriciated

Hello,

Try changing the audio settings to one of the other outputs down at the bottom of the page, the window where you select analog to make it work.

Unfortunatley that didnt work.

If it helps in troubleshooting, this is what I see in device manager under sound...
HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE
NVIDIA HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO

And these are the options givin to me in XBMC under Audio Output Device
WASAPI: Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE)
WASAPI: NVIDIA HDMI Out (NVIDIA HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO)
DirectSound Tonguerimary Sound Driver
DirectSound: NVIDIA HDMI Out (NVIDIA HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO)
DirectSound: Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE)

Ive tried to shut down one of the devices and and changing options but the results dont change
