OS X 10.6.6 ok or still downgrade to 10.6.3 recommended
#1
I've read a couple of threads about having to stick or downgrade to 10.6.3 for getting smooth video playback on OS X.

On the other hand someone mentioned, XBMC 10.1 would run fine and require at least 10.6.6 to work.

So what is the current state? Is it still recommended to use 10.6.3 or are the problems fixed in 10.6.6? And if so, is this true only for XBMC and above or as well for earlier XBMC builds?

I was also wondering this myself. After upgrading to 10.1 the program will crash if trying to play 720p or higher with VDA Enabled, however works fine under 10.0. I'm on 10.6.3 (2009 Mini) and was thinking of upgrading to 10.6.6 if the update is warranted.

I performed the 10.6.6 update on my system and all issues with VDADecoder on 10.1 seem to be resolved. Thanks!

I've been using 10.6.6 for a while now.
No problems with XBMC 10.0 or 10.1
NB .. if you have a CrystalHD involved though, installing the drivers adds a little extra twist to things, but it's all good in the end Smile
